ABOUT US

The name is the standard

In the trades, level and true is how you describe work that was done right. Level, because it sits flat. True, because it runs straight. A framer, a mason, a welder and a machinist all use the phrase, and they all mean the same thing: nothing to come back and fix.

We took the name because it is a standard to be held to, not a slogan. If we ever ship something that is neither, you should hold it against us.

We make one thing

Journeyman™ Work Pants. That is the whole catalogue.

A journeyman is a tradesman who has finished his apprenticeship and works on his own. He has done the years. He knows what he needs and he does not need to be sold anything.

That is who these are for, and making one product for one person is easier to do properly than making forty for everybody.

What we actually fixed

We did not start with a fabric and look for a market. We started with the three complaints that come up every single time a man talks about his work pants.

The knee. Heavy canvas does not bend. You go down on one knee under a sink or on a joist and the fabric pulls tight across the kneecap, then gives out there first. Ours is four-way stretch ripstop with a double layer exactly where yours wore through.

The heat. A July attic in a canvas pant is its own kind of misery, and most men just accept it. Ours is a light weave. It moves air. It is the single most common reason someone switches after a decade in the same brand.

The pockets. Most work pants are laid out by someone who has never carried a tape measure all day. Ours has a slot for the pens, a deep pocket for the multitool, a zip for what cannot fall out on a ladder, and a flat patch for the phone.

Then we spent the money where cheap pants fail: brass hardware instead of plastic, and a bar-tack at every stress point.

What we will not do

This part matters more than the rest, and it is the part you can check.

No countdown timers. You will not find a clock on this site telling you the sale ends in nine minutes and then resetting when you come back tomorrow.

No invented reviews. We publish what customers send us, including the critical ones. We do not pay for reviews and we do not make a discount conditional on a good one.

No optimistic shipping dates. We say one to three weeks because that is what it is. We would rather lose the order than surprise you after you have paid.

No fake urgency about stock. If a size is gone, it says so.

A brand named after a standard does not get to cut corners on the part nobody checks.

Where we are, and what we are

Levelandtrue LLC, registered in Wyoming, run by a small team in the United States. We ship within the US only.

The pants are manufactured overseas to our specification and inspected before dispatch. We say so plainly because you would have asked, and because a company that hides where its product is made usually has a reason to.

The guarantee, in one line

Put them to work for sixty days. Kneel in them, load the pockets, sweat in them. If they do not beat what you are wearing now, send the first pair back — worn or not — and we refund you.

Talk to us

info@levelandtrue.co

A person answers, Monday to Friday, within one business day. If something about your order goes wrong, write to us before you write a review. We would rather fix it.
